Product Overview
In the USA we only got hood struts that wear out and fail in cold weather. If you want the best and safest solution, here it is.
This is a complete kit to replace hood struts with OEM Toyota prop rod, Toyota grommet, and Toyota retaining clip. The pieces are noted in the diagram.

Toyota OEM, easy install, nice packaging, and great company to order from. Ohh, and the bonus of everyone asking , "where did you get that?" all the time.

Just what I needed! Freed up space in the engine bay by allowing me to remove the gas struts. Also, no more hood falling shut in the cold!

4 80 Series Hood Prop Rod - good value
Posted by Jon on Feb 22nd 2021
Quick shipping. All parts worked well except the clip used to hold the rod in the stowed position tends to come up with the rod; I put some silicone on the portion that clips into the body and it now seems to be staying in place when un-clipping the rod to erect it. Value seems about right; about the same price as chasing the individual parts and S/H.

5 80 series hood prop kit
Posted by LandCruisinMy93 on Jan 20th 2020
I finally got tired of being bludgeoned by my hood on cold days when I was working on the cruiser. So, I finally got around to looking up parts when I found this kit. Took about 3 minutes to install and came with Toyota parts. Now I don't have to worry about being clobbered by the hood anymore.

5 Simple solution to the gas struts

While I initially balked at the price, this simple fix will keep your head safe, and is probably cheaper than replacing the gas ones when they fail, again and again.
